The Electoral College...

  1. When you cast your ballot, you are also voting for the slate of electors appointed by your state’s political party.
  2. The winner takes all of the electors in a state where they are victorious. Many states will have incredibly close margins, making it even more important to cast your ballot.
  3. There are a total of 538 electors and a presidential candidate must gain at least 270 to obtain the candidacy. (BBC)
  4. It’s important to remember: Just like in 2016, a candidate winning the popular vote doesn’t mean they will win the Presidency. (New York Times)
